Space and Astronomy Instant Exhibit

The following AV and computer-based interactive exhibits were
developed for the National
Space Centre and are now available for U.S. audiences. Some
are original pieces, others are edited video loops of copyright
free footage. Each has been 'crash tested' by more than half a million
visitors, including school groups.
Fees range from $400 (simple AV) to $8000 (customized computer
interactive). AV files are MPEG encoded unless otherwise requested.
Interactives are supplied on CD's and were designed for a PC based
operating system. Further technical details available on request.
Customization with logos, etc. is also possible for additional fees.

Audio Visual Exhibits
Putting Together an Ariane V Rocket
Subtitled sequence edited from copyright free ESA footage. 4
minutes. Fee is for admin and supply on preferred format.
Astronaut Profiles
Series of interviews with astronauts about various aspects of
life in space (Jeff Hoffman, Richard Seafoss, Helen Sharman)
Astronaut Workout
Video only sequence of astronauts exercising in space. Approx.
3 minutes, edited from NASA footage. Fee is for admin and supply.
Living and Working in Space
Video only sequence of astronauts eating, sleeping, etc. in
space. Approx. 3 minutes, edited from NASA footage. Fee is for admin
and supply.
The Big Bang
Original animation with narration and subtitles. 3 minutes.
Making Planets
Animation with narration and subtitles about planet formation.
2 minutes.
Planet Hunters
Compilation of comments from astronomers who look for planets,
along with narrative. 2 minutes.
Aliens on Earth
Wonderful narrated animation of creatures that are found in
the fossil record that look very alien indeed. 3 minutes.
Kepler's Laws
Cartoon style (Leonardo Da Vinci inspired) original animation
that explains Keplers Laws. Approx. 4 minutes.
Moon Walkers
3 minute piece using NASA footage showing the lighter side of
Moon exploration complete with early 70's triumphant narrator. Includes
the 'golfing moment', feather and hammer, and various goofs and
gaffes.
Sun Weather
Edited piece of different solar weather with narration and subtitles.
Covers flares, sunspots, etc. 3 minutes.
Earth Observation Data
Sea surface temperature, ozone hole, vegetation, sea winds -
yearly looped sequences of data with explanatory narration. Each
approx. 2 minutes.
Shake, Rattle and Roll
Edit of footage showing satellites being tested with classical
music accompanyment. Approx 2 mins.
Sci-Fi B Movies
3 minute loop of some of the best 50's and 60's sci-fi movie
trailers. A real classic.
Neptune - Triton
Animated piece with narration that focuses on Neptune and its
very cold moon, Triton. Approx. 3 minutes.
Uranus - the Longest Night
Animated piece with narration that focuses on Uranus and its
weird axial tilt. Approx. 3 minutes.
Voyager - The Movie
A narrated 8-minute video covers the highlights condensed from
all the Voyager mission footage.
Computer based Interactives.
Size of the Universe (Powers of Ten)
An interactive that starts by taking a picture of the visitor and
ends at the end of the known Universe. Can be customized to include
an aerial shot of your science center for additional fee.
Life of Stars
A cartoon style interactive with two AV loops - one covering
double stars and one covering star birth - and two interactive loops.
The two interactive parts consist of 4x30 second clips showing the
life and death of four different sized stars which can be selected
by a push button.
Drake's Equation
Beautifully animated Drakes Equation for your visitors to work
out how likely life is elsewhere in our Universe.
What Happens Next?
A multiple choice interactive where you guess what would happen
in various situations in space. After you choose, a short video
clip shows you whether you guessed correctly or not!
Oscilloscope
Exceptionally simple and robust oscilloscope that runs on a
PC. Takes an input from a microphone. Great at allowing visitors
to explore different waveforms.
Crack the Color Code
An interactive about false color imaging where the visitor has
to locate a downed spacecraft using satellite imagery in different
wavelengths.
Build a Satellite
A fun, against the clock interactive to build different types
of satellite from the parts on the screen. Completion is rewarded
with a payoff - weather forecast, match replay etc.
Near Earth Objects/Asteroids
A number of interactives about Near Earth Objects/Asteroids
are also available courtesy of the
Near Earth Object Information
Centre. These have not yet been adapted for the U.S. audience.

We are interested in providing links and access to good astronomy
and space based physical interactives and are currently exploring
the possibilities. Watch this space!
Spacecraft Replicas and Models
Chabot is delighted to be partnering with an outstanding model
making company based in Russia to supply museum quality models and
replicas of spacecraft, rockets, satellites, etc. These are primarily
cast metal models. Photos of our own exquisite models will be posted
here shortly. Please contact us with your needs and we will obtain
a quotation for you. We take care of all the customs and delivery
paperwork, all you need to do is to decide what scale you'd like!
We have confirmed that models of Shenzou and the Long March rocket
are available. 1:144 scale models also make great gift store items.
Real Space Stuff
Chabot temporarily has available for loan a number of Russian
space artifacts, including flown and unflown Sokol KV-2 spacesuits,
cooling suits, inflight and survival clothing, and space food.
