Space for Rent

Rental Hours

Chabot Space & Science Center is available for rent year-round. Our typical rental hours are Monday and Tuesday, 6:00 am - midnight and Wednesday - Sunday, 5:00 pm - midnight.

The Tien MegaDome Theater and the Ask Jeeves Planetarium can be rented Monday & Tuesday 6:00 am - midnight and Wednesday - Sunday 5:00 pm - midnight.

On occasion we can accommodate meetings and events during our open hours. Please ask us and we'll do our best.

The Observatory Complex is available for private rental. Call Facility Rentals department at (510) 336-7421 for times and rates.

  1. Fees listed include space, access, utilities, and regular security and janitorial services only. Fees reflect space "as is" in the standard layout. Services such as catering and audiovisual equipment are not included. Parking is included. There are 210 parking spaces available in the parking structure.
  2. Full Facility does not include the Ask Jeeves Planetarium or the Tien MegaDome Theater.
  3. Includes space, AV equipment, and Technician.
  4. Indoor venue rentals are up to 7 hours including load-in/out.
  5. There is a 4 hour minimum on meeting rooms.
  6. These two rooms can be joined together to make one, please inquire about pricing.

The rental fee includes:

  1. Rental of the area specified on the Rental Agreement
  2. Access to exhibits in the areas specified on the Rental Agreement
  3. Parking
  4. Janitorial service during the event
  5. Security guard
  6. One or more Special Events staff person(s) at the event.

Extra Costs:

The following may be arranged at additional costs:

  1. Removal of tables/chairs/exhibits, etc.
  2. Science Center volunteers for exhibit explanations
  3. Additional Science Center staff
  4. Gift Shop to remain open
  5. Challenger Learning Center missions
  6. Hands-on activities
  7. Special audiovisual equipment and technicians
  8. On-site facility engineer
  9. Additional security and/or janitorial services 
  10. Shuttle service to and from auxiliary parking lots
  11. Additional rental hours.
