Press RoomRecent Appointments at Chabot Space & Science Center OAKLAND (June 30, 2000)--Oakland’s "new" Chabot Space & Science Center announces recent appointments. This $76 million, 86,000 square foot, state-of-the-art space and science teaching and entertainment complex opening this August, is pleased to welcome: LYDIA CRICHTON, Director of Marketing As the Director of Marketing, Lydia Crichton brings to Chabot Space & Science Center her experience in marketing, advertising, public relations and fundraising. In her previous position with Town & Country Magazine in Florida, Lydia produced events, created marketing programs, editorial content and worked with many Miami and Palm Beach non-profits in fund raising. Comfortable in many arenas, prior to leaving the Bay Area in 1990, she served as the Executive Director for CONPAC, a trade show for the contract design industry in San Francisco. Lydia’s business experience has provided CSSC with invaluable assistance in preparing for their August 19 opening. ETTA HEBER, Director of Media and Technology Etta Heber’s prior extensive experience with the Oakland Unified School District as an administrator, program manager, teacher trainer, and elementary school teacher, and as a consultant to the State Department of Education gives her a unique perspective as CSSC’s new Director of Media and Technology. In this position, Etta is responsible for establishing, staffing and managing the technology infrastructure and related educational applications for the new Science Center. Previously as CSSC’s Assistant Director of Education, she established teacher, student, family and community education programs and served as Principal Investigator/ Project Director on two National Science Foundation funded programs at CSSC: Women in Astronomy, and Female Involvement in Real Science and Technology (FIRST). She received her bachelor's degree from University of California, Berkeley and a Master's in Education from California State University, Sonoma. ### | |||||||||||
