Chabot Space & Science Center Announces Change in Hours During Academic Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 9, 2002, Oakland, Calif. — Chabot Space & Science Center announces a change in its public hours of operation, to better suit the academic year calendar. 

Effective April 8, Chabot's general hours are:

• Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 am to 3 pm.

• Saturdays and Sundays, 10 am to 5 pm. 

• Evening hours for the Planetarium & Theater are Fridays and Saturdays, 6:45 pm to 9 pm.

• Free access to the Telescope Observatory is offered on Fridays and Saturdays, dusk to 11 pm

Summer hours will begin in June and continue through Labor Day, with the full complex open to the public from Tuesdays through Sundays, 10 am to 5 pm. Evening hours will continue on Fridays and Saturdays from 6:45 pm to 9 pm.

The change in public hours does not affect scheduled school groups, who regularly visit Chabot Space & Science Center for tours, classes, and other science education programs.

Chabot Space & Science Center is located at 10000 Skyline Blvd. in Oakland’s Joaquin Miller Park. General admission is $8.00/$5.50 seniors and children. Children under 3 are admitted free; Students with ID receive a $1.00 discount. General admission to the galleries is FREE on the first Wednesday of each month (with an additional charge for Ask Jeeves Planetarium and Tien MegaDome Theater).
