Teacher Research Center

Chabot Space & Science Center's Teacher Research Center (TRC) is a forum for discussion and collaborative learning of the best practices of science education. It provides a reflective, professional environment for focus and examination of educational practices, and informed guidance to and from local, state, and national educators.

Background on the Teacher Research Center:
The key objectives of the Teacher Research Center are to:

  • Provide ongoing information to guide instructional practices
  • Advocate for exemplary research-based science education programs and projects
  • Provide professional development for both novice and veteran teachers
  • Provide an intellectual place for discussion and development of science education curricula and practices
  • Serve as a catalyst for developing teacher and university researcher partnerships

Site
The TRC is housed in the Dellums Building of the new Science Center adjacent to the CSSC Library. The TRC contains a meeting area, computer stations, and an office.

Administration
The TRC activities are under the direction of the Director of Education. Working closely with CSSC staff and members of the Board of Directors, the Director of Education develops teacher trainings, a lecture series, and other TRC activities.
