Development Event Intern

Chabot Space & Science Center is looking for an event intern to support production efforts on our annual Starlight Gala. The ideal candidate will have an interest in non-profit fundraising and will be a team player, flexible, and a problem solver who works well collaboratively.

This internship is up to 16 hours/week and is flexible but does requires event attendance on Saturday, October 26.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Development, this role will gain valuable, hands on experience with large scale event production and event fundraising strategy. Gain experience with scheduling, event production, budgeting, communications, and working cross-departmentally.


Tasks may involve:

-Researching and prepping solicitation letters for auction donations.

-Creating acknowledgement letters for event donations.

-Work cross departmentally on key components of event production.

-Support with event mailings and all printed and electronic materials.

-Plan timeline and communication strategy for post-event follow up.

-Involvement with planning social media for event.

-Ongoing research of corporate and foundation donors for membership/event solicitation.



-Interest in fundraising, development efforts at a non-profit organization.

-Strong writing, research, and communication skills.

-Strong knowledge of Excel and Word.

-Course credit and/or small stipend available.
