About Speaker Dylan Cardiff

Cardiff is a 20 year resident of Oakland, a California native who grew up in Sonoma County, and a proud father of two kids. As a stay at home father for 7+ years, Cardiff retained his sanity through experimenting with different food and drink-related hobbies. He started with the meditative kneading of various breads items using a sourdough starter from, and weekly volunteering at the Berkeley Farmers’ Markets. He began a food blog “Sourdough Monkey Wrangler” to document experiments in making cultured food items.

Over the years at home he’s tried his hand at pickles, sauerkraut, yogurt, kombucha, and of course various sourdough bread products (pizza, bread, english muffins, pretzels, pancakes, etc.) About two years into this, and being a lover of beer, he began learning the craft of making home brew with a group of friends. After brewing at home for 8 years, he changed careers and entered the professional beer making world nearly 5 years ago.
