New Year’s Eve Balloon Drops

Children reach for balloons as they are dropped at 1pm at the Chabot Space & Science Center on Dec. 31, 2008, in Oakland, Calif. The drop coincided with the celebration of the New Year in such countries as Russia, Syria, Uganda and Iraq. (Jane Tyska/Staff)

Ring in the New Year with Chabot

Families can ring in the New Year without staying up all night with one of Chabot’s most popular annual events. Celebrate strokes of midnight around the world at 11am, 1pm, and 4pm. Kids will count down and celebrate with hundreds of colorful balloons dropping from above and stay for the day to participate in fun activities throughout the Center.
