Join our community for a special Mars rover landing watch party and Q&A with NASA experts who worked on the mission. The Mars 2020 Perseverance Rover will make history when it lands on the red planet at 12:55 p.m. PST!  We are coming together virtually to make observations, ask questions and celebrate this moment in history. Connect with Chabot astronomers and experts as they share their observations and respond to comments during the launch. Look forward to learning all about the Perseverance Rover during this exciting event!

 

Q&A With NASA Experts

Tune in at 1 p.m. PST for a live Q&A with NASA’s Ames Research Center’s Shanna Withrow-Maser, Aerospace Engineer and Winnie Kuang, Mechanical Engineering Research Associate. NASA experts who worked on the mission will be discussing their roles in Mars exploration and answering your questions.

 

Winnie Kuang, Mechanical Engineering Research Associate at NASA’s Ames Research Center

Winnie Kuang is a mechanical engineering research associate at the NASA Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley’s Aeromechanics Branch. She holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. Winnie has worked on developing conceptual designs for the successor to the Mars 2020 mission’s Ingenuity, the Mars Science Helicopter. She has also supported efforts for flight dynamics and controls on Urban Air Mobility (UAM), the Mars Science Helicopter and the rotorcraft design toolchain workshop.
Shannah Winthrow-Maser, Aerospace Engineer at NASA’s Ames Research Center

Shannah Withrow-Maser is an aerospace engineer at NASA’s Ames Research Center located in California’s Silicon Valley. She graduated with her B.S. and M.S. degrees from Missouri University of Science and Technology where she studied aerospace engineering with an emphasis in project management. Shannah currently works in the dynamics and controls and vehicle design groups on rotorcraft applications for Urban Air Mobility and the Martian environment. Additionally, Shannah is the vehicle systems lead for the Mars Science Helicopter Project which focuses on technology to enable next generation Mars rotorcraft.
