Planning your Cosmic Camp In

Our programs aim to teach Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and school groups the wonders of space and science with our variety of themed programs. Learn more about our program offerings and their scientific standards.

 

Cub Scout Programs

Space Rocks
In this classic scout favorite, you will learn about the origins of asteroids, meteors and comets, where they come from, what they’re made of, when and how you can see them, and who studies them and why.

Girl Scout Programs

  • Daisies: Space Science Explorer | Brownies: Space Science Adventurer
  • Juniors: Space Science Investigator

  • Seniors: Space Science Expert | Ambassadors: Space Science Master (Daytime workshop available)

School Groups have the choice between Space Rocks or Solar System Express theme workshops.

Solar System Express (for schools)
Where are we in our vast, expansive Universe? Journey through our cosmic neighborhood with us! In this popular program, guests learn to identify the planets in our Solar System by their unique physical characteristics and to distinguish between planets and stars, and between stars and galaxies.

About the program

For the price of your ticket, you receive an itinerary of group activities that include an orientation, scavenger hunt, catered dinner, themed workshop, planetarium shows, Live Zeiss show led by the volunteers of EAS, exhibit time, telescope viewing, and a continental breakfast.

The minimum age requirement to participate in the Cosmic Camp-In program is 6+ at the time of the event. CO-ED siblings ages 5+ and parents may attend with an accompanying ticket.

The Chaperone ratio for all Cosmic Camp-In groups is 7 to 1.

 

Before your visit

Before you come for your visit, there are a few things we need in order to confirm your spot. These are due 10 days before your visit.

 

Consent Forms

A separate form is required per participant. Please feel free to distribute the form to your troop. A link to the form will be sent via email and lives on the website for parents/guardians to fill out at least 10 days before the event. Access form here.

 

Meal Roster

A meal roster is required for groups that are not purchasing individual tickets. The roster is used to determine the meal preferences of every individual in the group. Please disclose food-borne allergies if any apply. We want to assure visitors that we will have meals for a variety of dietary requirements. Any visitors that reserve their spots need to complete the roster and send it to Overnights@chabotspace.org with the group leaders name, troop number, and date of reservation at least 10 days before the event. For school groups, please include the school and teacher’s names on the roster. Access form here.

 

Tickets and Rescheduling

The price per ticket is $110 per person and includes 1 badge. Reservations for Camp-In nights may be purchased via individual tickets or by Group Sale. We encourage troop/group leaders and teachers to choose the method that works best for your organization and participants.

 

Online Ticketing

Our online ticketing system is for the convenience of visitors that wish to pay by credit card. There is a field to indicate your group, pack, or troop number to keep your group together. Tickets with barcodes are to be printed out or shown at the time of check in. Online tickets will remain available until 10 days before the event or until they sell out.

 

Group Sales

This is the preferred reservation method for school groups or group buy-outs. Final count and payment, along with completed consent forms and meal roster are required 30 days before the event. You can contact us at Overnights@chabotspace.org or make an appointment here to schedule your visit.

Rescheduling

There are no refunds for online tickets or group sales. If you need to reschedule your online tickets, please contact us at Overnights@chabotspace.org no later than 10 days before the event day.
