Facilities Technician III Job Summary:
The Facilities Technician III is a senior-level position within the facilities management team. This role is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance, repair, and operational tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the organization’s facilities. The Facilities Technician III is expected to have advanced technical skills and knowledge in various trades and must be capable of handling complex and specialized maintenance and repair tasks. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations. This Job Description outlines the main roles and responsibilities of the position however there will be other items not listed in this Job Description that will need to be completed as they come up.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Facility Maintenance: Perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems. Troubleshoot and repair complex issues and coordinate with contractors or vendors for specialized repairs.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and repair a variety of equipment such as generators, pumps, motors, compressors, and other machinery. Conduct regular inspections and ensure equipment is in good working condition.
- Facility Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, and compliance with building codes and regulations. Prepare inspection reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Repairs and Troubleshooting: Respond to work orders and service requests promptly. Diagnose issues, perform repairs, and troubleshoot malfunctions in a timely manner. Ensure all repairs are carried out safely and effectively.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols. Identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, equipment maintenance, and repairs.
- Project Management: Assist in planning and overseeing facility improvement projects, renovations, and installations. Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Update maintenance logs, equipment databases, and work order systems. Prepare reports as needed.
- Training and Mentoring: Provide guidance and training to junior technicians. Share knowledge and best practices to enhance the skills and capabilities of the team.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficient in using hand and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Additional vocational or technical certifications are a plus.
- Several years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
