Scientists are always curious to find water in the furthest reaches of the Earth and the Moon. Today’s program will span the freezing waters underneath Antarctica to the ice on the Moon.

Is there water on the Moon? Meet up with the Galaxy Explorers to make moon craters and discover more about the pH of dry ice. Join us at 1 pm in the Theater for a screening and panel discussion of the documentary film “The Lake at the Bottom of the World”.

Galaxy Explorer demos, 10 am – 2 pm, Lab 1

Moon Impact Cratering. Impact craters were formed on the moon billions of years ago and are thought to harbor tons of water in their dark depths!

The pH of Dry Ice. The pH of Dry Ice demo illustrates how chemical signatures can tell us what something is made of, whether it’s frozen water or frozen carbon. dioxide (dry ice)!

The Lake at the Bottom of the World, 1:00 pm screening, 2:30 pm panel discussion, Theater

The feature-length science documentary, The Lake at the Bottom of the World, follows a team of researchers as they explore the uncharted surface of the Antarctic continent 3,600 feet beneath the ice to reveal buried truths about our planet’s dynamic past.

Join us every third Saturday of the month for Investigating Space as we explore and discuss the big topics in space exploration with some of the leading scientists and researchers in the Bay Area. In this new series Chabot Space & Science Center highlights the latest discoveries, science research and space missions.
