The Great Conjunction Virtual Telescope Viewing
December 21, 2020 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Monday, December 21
5-6 p.m.
Free, Watch On Facebook and YouTube
Join Chabot astronomers virtually on Facebook and YouTube for a rare celestial event! Every 20 years, Jupiter gets very close to Saturn as seen from Earth, an event astronomers call “conjunction.” This year, the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction will be especially close, the closest in 800 years. The planets will be so close that both will appear in the same telescope field of view. Since the planets will be low in the Western sky, we’ll have only a short viewing time beginning at 5 p.m. PST.
