CANCELLED: Women In STEM Day with SAfG

March 25, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Unfortunately, today’s Women In STEM Day has been canceled.
Due to Tuesday’s storm, we have been experiencing a power outage that has lasted longer than anticipated. We recognize this news is disappointing and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Celebrate the accomplishments women have made in science, technology, engineering and math and our future generation of female scientists. Take part in hands-on science demos throughout the museum with the Center’s youth volunteers, the Galaxy Explorers. Then join a panel of local female scientists as they discuss their journeys to a career in STEM and their experiences in their chosen fields. Throughout the event, Lauren McKeegan will have a replica Mars rover on display that she built herself! Bring your curiosity to Chabot and spend the day with current and future scientists!

Space Science Timeline

With this fun interactive timeline from Scientific Adventures For Girls, guests will have to match a picture of women in Space Science with where they were born on a timeline. They will learn all about the contribution the women have made within their field. The timeline will showcase fantastic females in Space Science over the last 75 years.

Starting in kindergarten, SAfG’s afterschool STEM education engages K-6th grade girls in hands-on learning, helps increase their positive attitudes toward STEM and equips them with 21st-century skills. In the 2022-2023 school year, SAfG is delivering STEM education to about 650 girls in 22 East Bay Schools in Richmond, Oakland, Emeryville and Berkeley.
