Starlight Gala 2018 – MYSTERIUM: AN EVENING OF MAGIC AND MYSTERY

Future Fridays Lecture Series

Speaker: Jeff Kirschner, Founder of Litterati app. Begun in 2011, the Future Fridays Lecture Series is an evening lecture series that runs in the Fall and Spring and features talks by prominent leaders, authors, and innovators. The lectures are open to Chabot’s Stellar Society corporate and community supporters. Additional guests are welcome on a space available basis. The Future Fridays Series is generously underwritten by Rudney Associates.

Geminid Meteor Shower

December 13 @ 11:00 pm

11pm, Dec 13-3:30am, Dec 14 Price: $8 / Hot Chocolate included Bundle up and join hundreds of community members who flock to Chabot to get above the urban light pollution to view the last spectacular meteor shower of 2018, learn about heavenly bodies and wish upon the "falling stars”. Weather permitting. Open areas for viewing, so lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.

Slumber with the Stars, A Family Night at the Museum

Saturday, Dec. 29, 6pm- Sunday, Dec. 30 10am Slumber with the Stars, A Family Night at the Museum Science Transform the Sleepover from Pajama Party to Night of Discovery with Famous Scientists of History. Includes: flashlight tours to meet historical characters who influenced modern astronomy, dinner and breakfast buffet, Night at the Museum movie screening, planetarium show, exhibits, telescope viewing (weather permitting). Sleeping areas: exhibit halls, meeting rooms, Pleiades courtyard (weather permitting) for those who wish to bring tents.

New Year’s Eve Balloon Drops

Families can ring in the New Year without staying up all night with one of Chabot’s most popular annual events. Celebrate strokes of midnight around the world at 11am, 1pm, and 4pm. Kids will count down and celebrate with hundreds of colorful balloons dropping from above and stay for the day to participate in fun activities throughout the Center.
