Enjoy a warm summer evening of activities and stargazing on Chabot’s stunning Observation Deck! Learn about stellar concepts and preview our new offerings with special demonstrations, hands-on challenges and more. When the Sun goes down, the stars come out for exploring the cosmos through historic telescopes.

Event Schedule
During this event, celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Apollo 14 launch with a night of all things lunar. From cratering to simulated moon rocks and soil, you’ll learn about past missions and future expeditions.
Guest Speakers:
Solar System Ambassador, Gary Fussell will speak about the history of the moon, the Artemis mission and how it will be a stepping stone to Mars. Gary was worked on two NASA BIG Idea Challenges where his teams designed a greenhouse for Mars and then a rover for the south pole of the Moon. In the future, he hopes to get into the field of Astrobiology and study the possibility of life on the moons of Titan, Enceladus, and Europa.
Live Stream Lecture: Dr. Marc D. Rayman, from the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Dr. Rayman is the Chief Engineer for NASA’s Dawn Mission, which visited the asteroid Vesta and is now orbiting the dwarf planet Ceres. He will be discussing the latest science results from Dawn.
