Book early to reserve your spot! Open to grades TK-12th, for all school organizations.
Go beyond the ordinary: explore space, science and technology at Chabot and NASA Ames Visitor Center! Get ready for you and your class to embark on a one-of-a-kind adventure that sparks your students’ imagination.
Students are immersed in hands-on NGSS-aligned design challenges that show them what it is like to work at NASA such as building and driving rovers, testing plane designs in a wind tunnel, and tinkering with materials to test spacesuit design.

Every Field Trip Includes:
- A visit to NASA Ames Visitor Center in Studio 1, which is a highly facilitated and hands-on exhibition that brings to life the thrilling, challenging and inspiring process of scientific discovery by showcasing the real stories and people at NASA’s Ames Research Center.
- Time to explore the entire center’s exhibit spaces throughout the two buildings, including Studio 2: Going the Distance, Astrolight, Studio 3: CoLab: Other Worlds, and Touch the Sun.
- A Planetarium show in our new and improved 70-foot dome that transports audiences on explorations of Earth and beyond.
- A Live Science Show that features a series of exciting science demonstrations performed live by Chabot’s science educators, highlighting concepts in chemistry, physics, and more.
- Access to our observatory complex featuring three large scale telescopes, and adjacent Redwood Park for nature hikes or a sunny outdoor place for large groups to enjoy lunch.
Packages
Chabot offers two different packages for field trips.
1. Standard Visit (Exhibits + Planetarium Show + Live Science Show)
Up to 32 students max per group, 8 adults, including teacher, $390
Up to 6 groups booked per visit date.
2. Workshop Package (Exhibits + Planetarium Show +Live Science Show + 60 min Workshop)
Up to 32 students max per group, 8 adults including teacher, $525
Up to 3 groups booked per visit date.
Our 60-minute workshops are designed to cater to a variety of grade levels. Read more about our offerings to choose the best one for your classes.
Please fill out a field trip request form. A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required three weeks prior to your visit. Any group that has not paid the deposit will have their reservation canceled.
We are happy to still offer our 20% discount to all Title 1 schools!
Final number of visitors is due 2 weeks prior to visit date. Additional students and/or chaperones must receive advance approval and tickets can be purchased at a rate of $12 per student ticket and $15 per chaperone ticket. If additional students and/or chaperones do not receive preapproval they may not be permitted to participate in the field trip.
